Cake Design and making

Each cake is individually designed, so we work closely with our clients. We are happy to discuss your design ideas and to work with any sketches or photographs that we may be supplied with.

For further inspiration, we recommend you browse our gallery. This may give you the start of an idea for the cake you are looking for.

As well as our gallery, we also have a number of design ideas held in book format which we can show to customers at one to one meetings.

Your cake can be made from anything you want, for example, a wedding cake with different tiers of fruit and chocolate cakes, or, if needed, substitution layers, to give the impression of a full tier wedding cake, but at a fraction of the price.

As can be seen from the gallery a wide selection of decorations are available, though it should be noted that fresh or silk flowers can replace sugar ones.

Care and Transportation

In addition to these services, we also can provide a transportation and set up service.

Special Instructions

Just talk to us if you have any special instructions for the shape or colour of your cake (a look at our Gallery will show what we can do). And of course, tell us about any dietary requirements that you may have

Timing

Each cake takes a different amount of time to design, make and decorate, clearly a highly decorated 3 tier wedding cake will take longer to make than a simple birthday cake. However in the table below, we give an estimation of how long different types of cake take to make. BUT BEWARE! These are only guidelines, the final amount of time will depend upon many factors and need to be finalised during a consultation with us.

3 tier wedding cake 6 weeks

2 tier wedding cake 4 weeks

1 tier wedding cake 2 weeks

A 1 tier novelty cake could take as long as a wedding cake, but this will depend upon the level of decoration

Emergency Cakes

Sometimes, you may need a presentation or celebration cake at very short notice. We can supply such emergency cakes. For a sponge based cake, this can be done within 2 days, but for fruit cakes, ideally 2 weeks notice is necessary. This is to give the cake time to mature.
